Restricted Substance Management

In light of heightened international attention on Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), Arcadyan began requiring suppliers to sign the Survey of Level 1 Reportable Substances PFAS Declaration in 2024. As of that year, a total of 260 declarations had been collected, achieving a 99% response rate. To enhance restricted substance management and compliance awareness across the supply chain, 80 online training and communication sessions were conducted for suppliers, resulting in a 100% training rate among key suppliers.
In response to European regulatory controls on Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH) and Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons (MOSH), Arcadyan has required suppliers to sign the Declaration of Non-Use of Mineral Oil since 2023. This measure ensures that all materials and packaging comply with applicable standards, supporting global environmental protection policies. The Vietnam Manufacturing Center has implemented the QC080000 Hazardous Substance Process Management System to strengthen material testing and risk control at the source. In addition, efforts are made to develop halogen-free products and utilize conflict-free mineral sources, aiming to reduce potential risks to human health and the environment while ensuring customer health and product safety.

Arcadyan ensures that all products comply with international environmental regulations and customer-specific requirements by fully implementing hazardous substance management and environmentally friendly design principles. As of 2024, the applicable major regulations and product compliance statuses are summarized in the following table. To maintain a competitive edge in global environmental compliance, Arcadyan continues to strengthen realtime regulatory tracking and conformity control through its internal material management systems and close collaboration with the supply chain. These efforts also actively support customers in advancing sustainable supply chain management goals.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE)

From the product design stage, Arcadyan incorporates sustainability considerations such as customer requirements, waste reduction, and resource reuse. Environmentally friendly materials and low-pollution alternatives are actively adopted to promote design practices that reduce natural resource consumption and improve recyclability. In 2024, the total weight of recyclable materials—including paper, cardboard, wood, and plastics—used in the production and packaging of Arcadyan's major products reached 22,361 metric tons, accounting for approximately 67% of total material usage. This meets the EU WEEE Directive's product recyclability requirements. Arcadyan continues to enhance product designs focused on resource efficiency and circular economy principles, with a strong commitment to reducing environmental impact. The following green design principles are implemented:

Promotion of TÜV Green Product Mark

To meet EU requirements on environmental performance and energy efficiency, Arcadyan has adopted the TÜV Green Product Mark since 2018. This voluntary certification assesses the product's entire life cycle—from design and manufacturing to use and disposal—focusing on energy efficiency, environmental impact, and sustainability. Certification is pursued based on customer needs and includes energy performance testing and carbon footprint verification. Certified products comply with EU directives and receive both the green label and carbon certificate, reflecting Arcadyan's commitment to environmental responsibility. The TÜV mark strengthens regulatory compliance, enhances Arcadyan's green brand image, and builds market trust through verifiable sustainability credentials.

Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS)

To reduce risks from electronic waste, the EU issued Directive (EU) 2015/863 as an amendment to RoHS, adding four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DiBP) to the list of restricted substances. This enhanced controls over hazardous materials in electronic products. Arcadyan fully supports substance reduction policies. All products comply 100% with the limits set by EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, with no records of customer complaints or returns due to noncompliance demonstrating strong regulatory commitment. Arcadyan has further required its supply chain partners to incorporate phthalate substances (DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DiBP) into the risk assessment of homogeneous materials. In parallel, the company has strengthened control over the sources of raw materials and components to mitigate environmental and regulatory risks at the source, ensuring continued compliance with EU regulations and other relevant requirements in target markets.

Substances of Very High Concern (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals, REACH)

In line with its commitment to environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance, Arcadyan has established the Guidelines for the Management of Environmentally Hazardous Chemicals based on international environmental regulations and customer green procurement requirements. These guidelines specify restrictions on hazardous substances used in components, packaging, and auxiliary materials, supported by a comprehensive control list and monitoring mechanisms to reduce potential environmental risks in products. Since 2020, Arcadyan has complied with the EU REACH regulation by disclosing information on Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) contained in finished products. In accordance with the Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (SCIP) notification system, product information has been registered in the EU SCIP database to ensure transparency and regulatory conformity regarding SVHC content. Arcadyan also collaborates with suppliers to strengthen supply chain information management and fulfill its legal obligation to disclose SVHC information to downstream recipients. Through systematic data collection, registration, and regulatory communication mechanisms, Arcadyan is committed to ensuring the safety of final products and reinforcing customer and consumer trust.

Hazardous Substance Reduction Initiatives

Guided by its core commitment to environmental sustainability, Arcadyan is dedicated to providing eco-friendly, low-toxicity, and regulation-compliant electronic products. All shipped products have passed testing under the EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) for restricted substances including metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium), brominated flame retardants (PBBs, PBDEs), and phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DiBP). All test results meet regulatory thresholds, ensuring full compliance with international environmental laws.

As an electronics assembly manufacturer, Arcadyan's operations do not involve high-risk sectors such as agriculture, chemical production, or heavy industry, and do not use or generate any Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). Mercury and related substances are not used in its processes, eliminating any risk of mercury emissions. Procurement and use of materials and components strictly follow RoHS and Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) limits. Suppliers are required to provide compliance declarations to ensure all materials are mercury-free.

Through robust supply chain management, Arcadyan enforces comprehensive source control and promotes shared green responsibility across its supplier network. Internal environmental audits are conducted regularly, and thirdparty agencies are commissioned to perform environmental emission monitoring. To date, Arcadyan has no records of violations related to POPs regulations. The company remains committed to reducing hazardous substances and developing environmentally responsible products that balance performance with sustainability, in alignment with global trends and stakeholder expectations.

Halogen-Free Material Management

Halogenated materials may release highly toxic substances such as dioxins when incinerated, posing serious risks to ecosystems and human health. The EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive includes commonly used brominated flame retardants, such as PBBs and PBDEs, under strict regulation to minimize environmental and health risks during product use and disposal. In line with global “halogen-free components and processes” initiatives and customer expectations for green manufacturing, Arcadyan enforces strict source control of hazardous substances. The company has established clear environmental substance control standards that define allowable limits for chlorine and bromine content, while continuously promoting the research and substitution of halogen-free materials to enhance supply chain compliance management.

Arcadyan launched a halogen-free material assessment and substitution program in 2010, gradually phasing out high-risk substances. As of 2024, over 88% of materials used in Arcadyan products are halogen-free, while the remaining 12% remain fully compliant with environmental regulations and restrictions. The company continues to advance toward full halogen-free implementation, enhancing environmental friendliness in material selection and fulfilling its commitment to low-pollution, low-risk sustainable product design.

Mineral Oil-Free Material Policy

In response to growing global concerns over environmental protection and consumer health, Arcadyan has proactively aligned with EU regulations on mineral oil content by establishing a clear Mineral Oil-Free Material Policy. This policy aims to reduce the release of substances with potential risks to human health and the environment throughout the product life cycle. Mineral oils and their derivatives—such as Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH) and Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons (MOSH)—are known for their persistence and bioaccumulation potential, and studies have indicated possible hazards to ecosystems and human health. Since 2023, Arcadyan has prohibited the use of mineral oil-containing substances in product packaging, printed materials (including boxes, manuals, and brochures), and related components. The following management mechanisms have been implemented to ensure policy compliance:

Arcadyan will continue to reinforce its mineral oil-free material management system to reduce chemical risks and promote environmentally responsible, health-conscious, and legally compliant sustainable product development.
