Arcadyan recognized the consequence of climate change. Since 2009, Arcadyan has proactively participated in Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), to decrease operation risks and costs, and further transform various potential risks to business opportunities of green circular economy. Arcadyan submitted its commitment letter to join SBTi in October 2022 and plans to have its target validated in 2023.
Arcadyan sets 2022 as the base year, declaring that the organization's greenhouse gas (Scope 1+2) will achieve net zero by 2040. A near-term goal is set for an absolute reduction of 50% in 2030. Other indirect emissions of greenhouse gases (scope 3) are also planned to achieve net zero by 2050, with a near-term goal set for an intensity reduction of 66% by 2030.
The SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It is taking lead to assist businesses to set net-zero science-based targets in line with a 1.5°C future - an urgent call to action from a global coalition of UN agencies.
