Arcadyan proudly participated in International Coastal Cleanup Day on September 21, rallying 51 employees and their families to join the Society of Wilderness at Changqing Forest Beach in Zhunan, Miaoli. Despite pouring rain, participants enthusiastically demonstrated that beach cleaning is more than just picking up trash, they recognized that the key to addressing the waste is reducing it at the source. Utilizing the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) data forms, they gathered valuable information on marine debris, which can guide effective environmental policies and foster positive change for the future of our oceans.
A study by an international conservation organization revealed that without source reduction, plastic waste in the oceans could quadruple by 2050, and microplastic levels have already surpassed critical ecological thresholds. Arcadyan champions the principle of "not just 'picking' continuously, but also 'reducing' continuously" by incorporating Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic into products. Since 2017, Arcadyan has steadily increased the proportion of PCR plastic used, reaching 65% in 2023, with a goal of over 70% by 2024. Additionally, Arcadyan has enhanced its green products to contain over 95% PCR plastic, meeting customer demands and sustainability goals. Arcadyan continues collaborating with plastic suppliers to recycle scrap and unusable plastic housing into PCR plastic pellets. In 2023, Arcadyan recycled 11 tons of plastic, contributing to a circular economy that reduced CO2e emissions by 80.25 metric tons, practicing the goal of zero waste.
